All Todd & Duncan yarn is produced right here at our Loch Leven mill in Scotland, using methods that are true to the ways of the past.
Generations of Scottish cashmere experts have gone before us; every scrap of their knowledge passed on.
Whatever your request, we can respond – from custom colour combinations to entirely new creations – drawing on expertise in dyeing, knitting performance, colour-matching and everything else.

Our story began in Alva, the textile hub of the Scottish industrial era.
Today we are the only Scottish spinner offering cashmere yarn to fashion houses and quality manufacturers worldwide.
On a working visit to India at the end of the 19th century, Bradford-born Joseph Dawson witnessed local craftspeople working cashmere by hand. Joseph saw an opportunity to mechanise the time-consuming de-hairing process, to leave only the finest quality cashmere for spinning.

PURE SCOTTISH WATER
Drawn from Loch Leven. Then returned.
In 1897, we bought mills on the banks of Loch Leven in Kinross. This gave us the vast supply of pure, soft Scottish water that is essential to the feel – and the look – of our cashmere.
The loch has a vital part in Scotland’s past: the ill-fated Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned in the castle here. Today Loch Leven hosts a world-renowned RSPB nature reserve. All the water we use, we return to the loch – cleaned to make sure the brown trout, pink-footed geese and 35,000 wintering birds can thrive.
